Greenhouse Challenge
The SeaRoad Group provides Australia-wide logistics, and Bass Strait shipping services between Victoria, Tasmania and King Island. Our main business activities include the operation of a road transport fleet, two trans-Bass Strait ships and terminal facilities in Melbourne and Devonport. As is typical of the transport and shipping industries, our energy use, and therefore our greenhouse gas emissions, are directly related to providing necessary services to our customers.
We have a desire to be a good neighbour and corporate citizen, and we are keen to meet our commitment to reducing the production of greenhouse gases. We fully endorse the efforts of the Australian Government Greenhouse Challenge Team in providing the focus and reporting tools necessary for the implementation of a continuous improvement approach to addressing the problem of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Our task is to ensure that we continuously consider options that will lead to the more efficient use of our plant, ships, trucks and terminal equipment. Over the next few years this will include, where possible, the conversion of existing equipment to alternative energy forms, the selection of more efficient replacement equipment, ‘fine tuning’ our equipment for the best performance, and increasing the awareness of our people to improve the use of the resources that we have. |
